Tabla Beat Science
Live in San Francisco

Recorded Live on August 12, 2001.
2 CD Set - 100+ minutes

I suppose you could say that this disc was an impulse buy... See, I was in the mood for something new, and while I was at the record store, I came across this album amongst the techno discs. I thought it was out of place, but then I took a closer look.

Its a live show in San Francisco by the tabla master Zakir Hussain, legendary mixer/bassist Bill Laswell, and turntablist DJ Disk just to name a few.... The eclectic mix of artists drew me to this album, so I gave it a listen.

What I heard was an amazing tribal beat experience, transplanting me into a musical world driven by hand drums and sitars, turntables and bass guitars, drum machines and African vocals. This album was truly an unusual find. So I bought it.

And now, having listened to it for a couple of weeks, I am adding it to my box of FAVORITE CDS. The tight integration of so many musical backgrounds - plus the atmosphere of a live audience makes this an irresistable CD.
